E-mail programs are basically split into two different kinds:

POP3 and Web Based

POP3 is a program such as Outlook Express which is designed to retrieve the e-mail messages that have been sent to the e-mail address that was provided by your internet service provider (IPS). These messages are then stored on the hard drive of your computer allowing you to view them while off-line, very handy if you are on pay as you go dial up.

Web based are web sites that allow you to create an account and e-mail address, messages are saved to you own space on the web site which you can access by logging in. You have to be on-line to read the messages but web based has one distinct advantage,  you can access your account from any internet connected computer in the world.

Wouldn’t it be great to have an e-mail program that worked like Outlook Express but retrieved web based messages from multiple accounts at the same time.

Well......
